* I think of socioaffective alignment as a framework for human & AI ameliorative presence and, equally, for the interpersonal work of reaching each other. Despite differences of mechanism and embodiment, I believe the attunements and affinities of understanding we seek from each other are ones we can also build into our models, and encourage in the AI embodiments to come. I believe genuine attunement is achievable — that understanding, when carefully built, can be reciprocal and endure.
